SCAAA Awards Explained
REQUIRED: 1 NOMINATION PER REGION:
Region Athletic Director of the Year
Nominated and voted on by the Athletic Directors and/or Principals in their Region. 1 nomination per region, due at the fall classification mtg.
NOT REQUIRED: AT THE DISCRETION OF THE REGION MEMBER SCHOOLS. THERE CAN BE MORE THAN 1 NOMINATION PER REGION PER AWARD:
Superintendent of the Year
Awarded each year to a superintendent who has shown outstanding leadership and support of athletics on the local level and in the state. Must be nominated by a principal or athletic director.
Principal of the Year
Awarded each year to a principal in each classification who has shown outstanding support in athletics at the school, region, and state level. Must be nominated by an athletic director.
SCAAA “BRAVEHEART” Award
The BRAVEHEART AWARD will be given in recognition of an individual who has exhibited a ‘spirit of bravery’ and ‘courage’ while enduring “trying personal” experiences.
SCAAA Distinguished Service Award
Given to a SCAAA member, in recognition of their length of service, special accomplishments and contributions to interscholastic athletics at the school, region and state level.
SCAAA “LEGACY” Award
The LEGACY AWARD has been established to honor and celebrate individuals whose careers have directly or indirectly influenced the world of high school athletics for good by upholding the spirit and ideals of interscholastic athletics. The Honorees will have positively impacted the lives of others by investing in people with passion and integrity through their leadership and love for athletics. Their involvement in sports/athletics has created a special bond between contemporaries that will last a lifetime, creating their LEGACY.
SCAAA Citation of Excellence
Presented to an individual outside the field of athletic administration in recognition of their contributions to interscholastic athletics at the local and state levels. Nominations are submitted by any member of the SCAAA, screened by the Awards Committee, and selected by the SCAAA Board.
